Overview of the role:

The GIS Specialist is a key member within the Project Management department who is responsible for supporting the Authority Approvals, Masterplan & GIS team. The role holder will be responsible to support GIS team in the overall data management and providing guidance on data control and management requirements. The role holder will drive the efficient use of technology to provide great quantitative and qualitative benefits to deliver a comprehensive GIS that will provide a common platform for data collection, storage, authorized and secure access to spatial and non-spatial data, harmonize the workflow or respective departments and disseminate information for the benefit of Al Futtaim Group and relevant scope of its implementation.

 

What you will do:

Responsible for:

  • Accountable for maintaining an up to date data system of the Group’s land bank and asset information including relevant legal documents and performing annual reviews
  • Responsible for utilizing the GIS software to analyze the spatial and non-spatial information and identify priorities for improving the accessibility and quality of data with high regard for data standards
  • Responsible for managing the list of nominated Data Owners, Stewards, and over-all access rights for users and track relevant changes to the nominated users and role holders.
  • Act as the first escalation point for data access and data quality issues
  • Responsible for relevant reports as directed and requested by the relevant Divisional Management
  • Responsible for ensuring that data governance regarding data architecture, data quality, privacy, and data security are in check for any new onboarding of divisions/ programmes
  • Work with the GIS team for safe transferring of original land/ property ownership documents to Group legal on a periodic basis or as and when required
  • Execute important daily tasks such as using various criteria to examine and analyze information, designing databases and connecting GIS with other technologies
  • Staying up to date or abreast with the latest developments in the GIS field

What equips you for the role:

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as Computer Science, or Engineering
  • Civil Engineer with a GIS Master’s Degree is a big plus
  • Excellent computer proficiency and profound knowledge in several programming languages like Python or ArcObjects 
  • Profound  ARC GIS knowledge to work with various GIS tools

 

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 6-8 years’ experience
