Duties and Responsibilities
3.1 Initiate and oversee the development of a comprehensive quality improvement program; directs and coordinates in conjunction with the medical staff and system leadership, the quality initiatives for the hospital.
3.2 Foster and maintains collaborative relationships with external agencies related to quality initiatives, including but not limited to quality schools, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
3.3 Initiate, oversee, and integrate a comprehensive medical safety program as an integral component of hospital quality services; define and coordinate the participation of Infection Control/Epidemiology, Safety, Occupational Health Services, Risk Management, Quality Improvement Services, and others as necessary.
3.4 Establish relationships with external agencies related to medical safety programs, including but not limited to quality schools, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
3.5 Oversee a comprehensive Medical Safety Program in efforts to improve the safety of patients, visitors, and employees and makes recommendations for performance improvement activities related to medical safety in the hospital with the MSD Quality Improvement staff.
3.6 Oversee reporting of events as required by regulatory agencies in collaboration with Corporate Compliance/Risk Management/Legal Affairs.
3.7 Coordinate and oversee data collection and analysis, reporting improvement activities, and following-up related medical errors.
3.8 Lead the development of hospital policies and procedures related to quality improvement and medical safety and participate as a stakeholder in the crafting of hospital policies.
3.9 Serve as a leader in Performance Improvement (PI) efforts related to medical safety by conducting the root causes analysis in cooperation with RMH root causes analysis team for specific patient care trends and for investigation and internal reporting of sentinel events.
3.10 Communicate PI and medical safety activities on a regular basis to the medical staff and engages medical staff in PI activities.
3.11 Review and evaluate service of the hospital that are affected by quality/medical safety/regulatory issues, to ensure that safety/regulatory recommendations are implemented and the desired results are obtained.
3.12 Plan, design, develop deliver and educate medical staff regarding regular issues, new statutes/guidelines, performance improvement, quality promotion, medical safety activities and participate in activities related to accreditation.
3.13 In collaboration with clinical leaders, participate in the development, monitoring, reporting, and improvement activities related to clinical pathways and guidelines.
3.14 Set system policy for organizational structure and collaborates in the approval of proposed structures. Develops long-range goals, annual objectives, and strategies for area(s) of responsibility.
3.15 Collaborate with CQI & PS’s Medical Informatics unit to develop computerized programs or software’s for incident report system, CQI & PS website (intranet/intemet) improvement and electronic document control to improve quality systems.
3.16 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge and skills.
