Duties and Responsibilities

The employee will:

  • Support fully the DON and nursing leaders in their roles in leading, developing and continuously improving Nurse Education atthe facility, by assuring facility’s policy, deploying good governance and positively engaging in the senior management team duties in Nursing Education (NEA).
  • Act as an effective role model within Nursing Administration through mentoring, coaching, facilitating, and teaching in an endeavor to achieve optimal staff development and service outcomes.
  • Lead, coach, guide and support clinical nurse educators to develop consistent governance in nurse education.
  • Foster a culture of constructive debate and open communication to enable critical thinking, thereby facilitating the practice and further development of critical thinking as an integral part of all educational provision.
  • Ensure all additional educational request from operational areas across the facility are considered in a structured and consistent manner with timely feedback, response and implementation as appropriate
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure education is coordinated and inclusive across all hospitals and centers.
  • Prepare the annual education calendar in collaboration with Head Nurses to complete the Nursing Services annual education calendar.
  • Ensure effectiveness and cost benefits of nursing education programs to meet the organizational mission, vision, values, goals and objectives.
  • Conduct annual review of education programs to ensure they meet the latest evidence.
  • Conduct routine meetings with Clinical Resource Nurses to review progress of all educational and operational plans and activities, offer support to resolve issues and assist their development to implement local strategy.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of processes, policies and procedures involved in the educational activities and administration of the assigned NEA.
  • Participate actively in on-the-job training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating nursing students and trainees.
  • Provide opportunities for nursing Clinical Resource Nurses to suggest, participate, and contribute towards improvement, innovation and knowledge-sharing initiatives
