Job Summary:The Stewarding – Chief Steward is responsible for overseeing the entire stewarding department and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the team. They will supervise and train the stewards, manage inventory and order supplies, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen and back-of-house areas.Job Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the stewarding department, including coordinating with other departments to ensure timely service and cleanliness.- Hire, train, and supervise stewarding staff, ensuring they adhere to all policies and procedures.- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the stewarding department.- Maintain accurate records of inventory and order supplies as needed.- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.- Work closely with the Executive Chef and other department heads to ensure smooth communication and coordination.- Monitor the performance of stewards, providing constructive feedback and addressing any performance issues.- Conduct regular training sessions for stewarding staff on hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices.- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.- Assist in budget preparation and cost control initiatives for the stewarding department.Candidate Requirements:- Previous experience in a similar role in a hotel or hospitality industry.- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.- Excellent organizational and time management.- Knowledge of inventory management and ordering processes.- Good understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.- Ability to work pressure and prioritize tasks.- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.- Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.- Proactive, can-do attitude and a team player.Job Details
