- Responsible to provide advanced technical/operational expertise on GIS by verifying the asset data held in GIS is accurate and up to the standards/ requirements of the department; ensuring the availability of GIS data to better understand and communicate the operation of the department which allows targeting investment and operational interventions.
- Provide advanced technical and/or operational expertise on GIS
- Manage online tools using spatial data; designs and implements spatial databases in SQL
- Ensure the delivery of the most appropriate schedules for asset data updates and cleansing
- Review the accuracy of spatial data received from a variety of sources such as DNO&M staff, contractors and suppliers and provide inputs as required
- Conduct verification of GIS data, prepare snag list and follow up remedial works in connection with final acceptance of completed GIS works.
- Create new desktop and online GIS software tools for use by GIS staff. Interfaces GIS and other software to construct complex applications.
- Provide complex and ad-hoc geo-spatial reports
- Conduct complex spatial and data analysis on gathered data and identify potential trends or issues with data accuracy
- Develop maps which identify location of network infrastructure and assets
- Review as-built drawings, maps, graphs, aerial images, recognize and resolve discrepancies in data and take necessary action to ensure quality of information is accurate and acceptable
- Enter new GIS data to DGIS with agreed confidence grade; ensure the alignment of GIS and EAMS GIS data
- Update GIS Geodatabase in line the snag clearance, provide GIS data to department and contractors informing future planning and operations; prepare reports and maintain files, records and drawings
