Duties and Responsibilities
- Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and those specific to the department.
- Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
- To assist the Senior Registrar and Registrar in the secpecialty in major procedure as required and to involve activity in other duties i.e. clinics, rounds, on-calls.
- Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by Consultant/Senior Specialist in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
- To be available for referrals and consultations from other disciplines.
- To teach and assist all junior trainee (Interns and Residents) in the full range of required procedures, related to their experience and stage of training.
- To organize all aspects of clinical teachings, ward rounds, seminars and related postgraduate activities. In particular to act as the main resource for the registrars in the preparation of the fellowship examinations.
- To ensure that all records are maintained fully and accurately, and to guide the trainee in doing so.
- To initiate investigative work in relation to the clinical experience of the department, and to organize regular audit in the main areas of that specialty.
- To initiate and organize prospective trials and studies on currently important topics, with a view to publication.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities. Takes on-call duty in accordance with the department’s schedule.
- Instructs and guides when necessary junior medical staff in the overall care of patients, supervises their performance/work and contributes to the training and teaching activities in the department.
- To report and discuss all unusual findings, complication or alterations in the management plan with Medical Director guidance.
- Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
- Attends the Continuing Medical Education Program of the department.
- Participates in approved research projects.
- Shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
- To acquire and maintain certification in ACLS.
- Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
- Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
- Participates in CQIPS system improvement activities, system control activities, staff development activities.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
Essential:
- Saudi Board eligible/certified.
- Higher academic degree (MD, MS) or equivalent (desirable) recognized by the Saudi Council for Health Specialties.
- Saudi Commission For Health Specialtites (SCFHS) Registration & Accreditation.
