On behalf of Wear That, we are looking to hire a Buyer who has expertise in Private Label and product development to join the team. As a key player, you will be responsible
for the design and production of the Wear That private label products. You will develop merchandising strategies, budgets, sales targets, and profit objectives, ensuring that our private label meets sales and profit goals. Your role will be pivotal in establishing and maintaining strong vendor relationships, analyzing business metrics, and identifying opportunities for future product assortments.

Through our Styling Recommendation System, we analyze our customers’ style preferences, sizes, and measurements, allowing our team of stylists to curate looks that align perfectly with each individual’s expectations. Our curated styling box approach, sourcing from global brands, offers convenience and variety. Customers select items they love, pay only for what they keep, and avoid the risk of unwanted purchases. Today, Wear That is driven by a talented team of over 50 professionals, whose collective efforts have fueled rapid growth over the past six years. Notably, a significant percentage of our team are women, reflecting our commitment to diversity and empowerment.

What you’ll be doing  

  • Oversee the end-to-end process of product development, from initial concept through to final production, ensuring high-quality and innovative private label collections.
  • Contribute to the brand’s vision by developing unique and trend-forward products that resonate with our customers, are data driven and stand out in the market.
  • Conduct 1:1 and group training sessions for stylists to ensure comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Ensure the fit of our products through weekly fit meeting sessions with the styling and merchandise departments, aiming to ensure the correct fit, sizing, and body shape knowledge.
  • Identify and pursue potential wholesale opportunities to expand the reach and profitability of our private label.
  • Lead the production, design, and development of the Private Label collection(s), ensuring each piece aligns with our brand aesthetics and quality standards.
  • Source and manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms to secure the best materials and production conditions.
  • Lead the development and execution of the private label buying strategy, aligning with Wear That’s overall business goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, fostering collaboration across various company channels.
  • Analyze business metrics, data, and industry trends to uncover opportunities for future product assortments and innovations.
  • Build and expand the vendor matrix, ensuring a diverse and profitable range of offerings.
  • Oversee sales and profitability, negotiating with vendors to optimize gross margins.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure cohesive messaging and product placement through social channels.
  • Work closely with the eCommerce team.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements for selling within the private label space.

  What you’ll need to succeed  

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, fashion merchandising, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in buying, procurement, or merchandising within the fashion industry.
  • Experience in developing and managing private label products, with a solid understanding of the end-to-end product lifecycle. Private Label experience is mandatory for this role.
  • Experience across a variety of product categories, in both retail and wholesale environments, and with your own brand or a large company.
  • A deep understanding of the fashion industry, market trends, and consumer preferences.
  • Knowledge of product development, sourcing, production, and supply chain management.
  • The ability to analyze data, trends, and market information to make informed buying decisions.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving
