• Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

5.1      Supports and assists the Head Nurse in promoting a good working atmosphere and in making the most effective and efficient use of staff supplies and services.

5.2      Assumes responsibility for quality of care delivered to patients.

5.3      Assesses patients’ need and condition.

5.4      Collaborates with other health care team members in planning and providing safe and comprehensive care.

5.5      Performs procedures accurately, completely and safely according to hospital policy.

5.6      Functions quickly and effectively in an emergency situation.

5.7      Evaluates patient’s treatment and care and reports pertinent information to appropriate nursing or medical personnel.

5.8      Assists the doctor and carries out prescribed treatment including administration of medication as per hospital policy.

5.9      Provides comprehensive wound care and update wound care trainings in regular basis as required.

5.10    Documents care, observes physical and emotional symptoms and changes according to hospital policy.

5.11    Maintains a safe and clean environment for the patient.

5.12    Complies with hospital-wide and unit-specific policies and procedures.

5.13    Respects the dignity of patients and maintains confidentiality, thus maintaining patients’ rights.

5.14    Acts as mentor and assists with orientation of new staff.

5.15    Recognizes and follows infection control practices.

5.16    Takes personal responsibility for own professional development and keeps up-to-date with professional change and development, including English and Arabic Language skills.

5.17    Communicates effectively and reports pertinent information.

5.18    Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code policy.

5.19    Participates in environmental safety awareness, Disaster, Fire and Safety and Infection Control on a yearly basis.

5.20    Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital quality programme.

5.21    Participates in CQI&PS activities.

5.22    Participates in unit KPI/ NDNQI data collection if required for national and international benchmarking.

5.23    Participation on quality activities as initiatives for service improvement on Patients Experience.

5.24    Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of her knowledge, skills and abilities as assigned and delegated in accordance with the hospital policy.

5.25    Is responsible for keeping Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification and updated on a two year basis (Saudi Health Association Recommendation).

5.26    Promotes health education to patient and their family regarding patient status.
