Job Summary:

The psychologist will have a polyvalent role within the team. The primary role is to answer the needs arising from the clashes to helpers and the general population such as wounded, their families and the displaced. A secondary role is to support the program responsible in organizational and administrative tasks ensuring the smooth continuity of the activities. The qualified candidate should have a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a completed therapy training and preferably supervision post training, with 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience, including 3 years of experience in MHPSS programs. Having a license to practice is a must. 

General Description:

The psychologist will have a polyvalent role within the team. The primary role is to answer the needs arising from the clashes to helpers and the general population such as wounded, their families and the displaced. A secondary role is to support the program responsible in organizational and administrative tasks ensuring the smooth continuity of the activities. 

Objectives and Tasks:

  • Develop, implement, and follow up on MHPSS activities at local and national level.
  • Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support meetings.
  • Organizes referral of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up.
  • Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with health authorities, academia, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS program beneficiaries.
  • Trains and supports MHPSS staff from the ICRC and other organizations/partners/teams as per the program strategy.
  • Maintains regular communication with the HTH program responsible, providing data and program updates.
  • Fills out and manages data and reporting related to their activities.

General Duties:

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct.
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times.
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times.
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers.
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.

Additional Duties:

  • Is aware of the delegation’s objectives and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position.
  • Collects and shares information so as to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.
  • Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image.
  • Takes responsibility for own professional learning and development.

Job Details:

  • Job Location: Beirut, Lebanon.
  • Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm.
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term, until 31.12.2024 (renewable based on performance and need for position).
  • Salary Package: USD 2,408 – 4,159 per month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
