What you’ll be doing  

Manager – Shipping leads the team in the Group’s central shipping department and in local countries.

The team is responsible for the Imports and/or Exports and customs clearance of shipments to and from all operating locations of the Group, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality and customer service.

1. Team Leadership and Management:
   Lead and manage the team responsible for imports and exports operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and within deadlines.
2. Reporting to Senior Management:
   Work closely with and provide regular updates to the Transportation Director at the group level on the performance of logistics operations and service provider relationships.
3. Oversee Service Provider Performance:
   Monitor the performance of service providers, including freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other third-party vendors, through key performance indicators (KPIs), capacity management, and compliance with contracts and systems.
4. Advise on Cost-Effective Transport Solutions:
   Provide guidance and recommendations for cost-effective transportation modes to move cargo based on operational requirements and customer needs.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
   Ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with state, customs, and other applicable regulations. Monitor adherence to the defined processes, terms, and timeframes for service execution.
6. Accurate Billing and Invoicing:
   Ensure that Business Units are billed accurately as per the logistics price list and monitor freight forwarder invoices for correctness and compliance with agreed price lists.
7. Customs and Regulatory Compliance Management:
   Oversee adherence to customs, dangerous goods regulations, and other applicable rules to ensure safe and lawful shipment handling related to shipping
8. Claims and Insurance Management:
   Ensure all shipments are properly insured and manage claims by investigating, settling, and addressing the root causes of any issues.
9. Stakeholder Communication and Meetings:
   Attend operational meetings with Freight Forwarders, Customs, Customers, and other stakeholders to discuss and resolve any operational challenges and service performance issues.
10. Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
    Provide accurate reporting and analysis as per management requirements. Demonstrate adaptability, openness to change, and a commitment to continuous improvement in operations.

    Train, guide, and support team members in the execution of required tasks, and ensure the department is adequately staffed to meet seasonal peaks and holidays.
13. Performance Reviews:
    Conduct regular performance appraisal meetings, providing constructive feedback to team members and ensuring ongoing professional development.
14. Compliance and Integrity Management:
    Ensure immediate reporting of any breaches in Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001) quality, health & safety, environmental procedures, company policies, or security protocols, and take corrective actions as necessary.

What you’ll need to succeed  

1. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Proven experience in managing import/export operations and customs clearance.
3. Strong understanding of logistics regulations, and transport processes.
4. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Knowledge of ISO, OHSAS, and environmental management systems is a plus.
8. Experience in training and developing team members is desirable.
9. SAP experience is a must
10. Arabic Speaking is preferred
